Farmer Sam Burton over at Our Edible Suburb is working on a neat system that combines hydroponics with aquaculture called aquaponics. Okay, hydroponics is about growing plants without dirt. Yes, not only is it possible to grow without dirt, in many ways it's far more exacting because you get nutrients to each plant in liquid form without the trouble of dealing with diseases often found in dirt. It's a cleaner, more consistent way of delivering nutrients.

In fact it's more like having a pet ecosystem. The fish feed the plants and the plant feed you and the fish. It works. Check out what Farmer Sam is doing: Goldfish Tower Aquaponics.

Grow'em big,

Damon
